Single right click it then format then select your formatting options. Where it says unallocated space that is. You can click on that.

check this out, before you do anything, unplug any other hd's besides your c: and the usb that you want to repartition and reformat, until you get familiar with what the hardrives look like in linux. if you need more help pm me.

Don't use the NTFS format if you plan to use this in certain devices like media players.

Also, where did linux come into this?

it's all on personal preference, i dont like the way the windows partition program works, the gparted partition editor works just fine for me, keeps things running smooth, and im sure he'll want to copy large files, and theres a filesize limit on using fat 32, as compared to nfts

http://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=282401

all my media players work just fine with all my removable drives using nfts,

Not at all, I have one that doesn't like NTFS, it's an older one hence why I said SOME media players.

You don't like the way the windows partition program works... What does it do differently then. And yes, i'm perfectly aware of the 4GB limit of FAT32.

i do alot of reformatting and repartitioning when installing a fresh copy of windows, and it's like the same as not using just the windows oem format from the disk, you would need to use a third party software to reformat and repartition it then install the fresh install of windows. using the gparted program is just a sure fire way that i know that the repartitioning and reformat is done right the first time.

personal preference, anyway, Armi i hope that you solve your issue, if anything the choice is up to you, happy partitioning!

I appreciate both of your help. I don't really want to burn a CD of GParted. Is there any other way I can basically nuke the USB and just let me format with Windows?

I'd love to be able to do that however the options are all greyed out.
