What is the difference between CPU temps and idle core temps? - like what identification program?

Bios temps tend to be off a few degrees for whatever reason. For Intel machines RealTemp or CoreTemp work well, for AMD you should use other programs.

For you to have a 21c idle temp, you'd need an air cooler in an open case with fans on full blast and your room to be ~17-19c... I'm jealous if your setup matches my description. If it doesn't, then the temps are likely being reported incorrectly, and the "idle core temps" of 41c sounds right. My watercooled setup idles ~ 33-35c with my room temp at 27c (watercooling tends to idle with higher temps than air, but load temps are much less)

lol as a matter of fact, my setup does kinda match your description . I have 4 fans for intake (including the p/p fans for h50) and two for exhaust at the top. I have a push pull config for the h50 but i dont have them on max rpm settings but all rest r on max tho.

i just thought it was weird because the OP says he was getting 32C idle for his core temps with his h50 cooler...maybe his room is even colder than mine?

Steady on there big fella.

While I understand your sense of vindication (gods know the H series users need some), there is nothing to be gained by singling out one user.

To his credit, ICrap tried various configurations and combinations to get his H50 to work to his expectations, sadly, it didnt work out.

This cooler, like may others depends on many variables. As I keep saying, YMMV with the H series.

Enjoy your success but pls dont rage on people that dont share your zeal.

What I'm saying is that if your CPU idle temp is 41c (as reported by one program?), then it's too high and you should replace TIM and reseat your CPU, but if it's 21c, you must have a very cold room with lots of air flow. It's one or the other

I kept logs of my temps with different setups, and with my H50 in push/pull (and oddly enough it was the same with only one fan) with Gelid Silent12 fans, I would constantly idle at 33 and load at 74c, with room temp of 23c, so about +10c at idle from room temp, and +50c idle from room temp.

I was disappointed with the cooling of the H50 (maybe the scoured looking surface of the cooler's copper base contributed to that?), and very quickly got a full-custom watercooling setup for $100 more than the H50 cost me, and it's carried me on to Crossfired watercooled 6950s My temps went from that 73c load temp @ 23c room temp to 55c load temp at the same point. When folding on CPU and both GPUs, the max temp the CPU gets up to is 61c, an incredible feat for the amount of heat that is being generated

Sources where the 212+ is using a single fan just like the H50 that is. (Or using the same fan setup in push/pull)
This goes to show why many people believe the H50 is garbage. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's garbage, but there are so many better AIR coolers that you can use that are cheaper. The review below shows that the H50 doesn't outperform the 212+.

H50 is equal to Mugen 2 cooler and Mugen 2 cooler beats 212+.
