[Need advice] Samsung F3 vs?

Thread Starter
I am in need of a new hard drive, I built my first real pc a few months ago, and since then I have been using a 160gb laptop hdd. It is now time to upgrade. This will be my boot drive, so I want it to be fast and reliable.
My main options are the Samsung F3, or a WD Black.
The Samsung F3 is 65$
This WD 750gb AEX drive is currently on sale for 55$
This WD 640gb drive is supposed to be fast

Is the WD 750 with 64mb cache and sata III faster than the F3?
2nd, is there any performance loss from partitioning my drive into say a 100gb partition and then the rest on the other side?

1.The Samsung F3 still is the fastest drive afaik in sequential transfers while the WD Black has somewhat lower access times while being hotter and noisier. SATA 3 and 64MB of buffer don't bring anything to the table for HDDs.
2.It's even recommended. This way you set the first 100GB for the OS - the first 15-20% of the HDD are the fastest (outer rim of the disks) so it's a good idea to have the files that are accessed the most often and need the most speed in the first 20% of the HDD.
