That's true. But if we're just scoring the box is gets a solid 9.5 from me.

I'm actually gonna display the tin box if I get a 8-core BD. Best CPU packaging ever. I dumped my old Phenom II box the minute I saw these pictures.

Now... Is the inside as shiny? If AMD wants to win our hearts, they'll need both the packaging and the present inside. For some reason I'm kind of confident... damn it stupid awesome package, you already messed my objectiveness up!

It is a pretty cool box though
There had better be a cardboard box inside the metal tin!

You can belittle the packaging if you like, but it is a waste of money for AMD to spend on all the little extras if nobody is going to buy the CPU because Sandy is way better.

Of course, as it has been stated many times, BD will beat sandy convincingly in apps that can use 8 threads (encoding, rendering, etc). The question is... how close will BD get (I am 99% sure it won't beat Sandy) in gaming performance.

Maybe it will be as fast as the first gen Core i7's. Maybe....

Well if AMD can't beat that then they should pack up shop. Why even bother officially bringing back "FX" like they did today at E3. I mean really, how long has the i7 920 been out again?

Bulldozer's minimum requirement is "first gen Core i7" (i.e. Nehalem) IPC.

They wouldn't bother bringing back the "FX" branding unless they were absolutely confident in it's superiority or it's competitive advantage/nature.

I am sure you realize this, but that was my point in that post.

Exactly. I did realize that but I thought I'd emphasize that point.

It's possible it'll be as fast as SB clock for clock, but it won't be able to clock as high.

My prediction: Clock for Clock in between 1st gen and 2nd gen Core i7, and max clocks around 4.2Ghz.
