[Gc-UK] E3 2011: Battlefield to get 'Battlelog' social networking feature – for free - Page 2

It won't kill CoD. Simply because the majority of FPS players (on PC and Console alike) just aren't that good at first person shooters. CoD caters to them, and give them the tools to make them feel like they are skilled players. Zeus grenades, overpowered perks, tubes, etc. Not to mention killstreaks, which spawned a whole new generation of camptards.

Battlefield on the other hand, takes skill and team coordination. The modern FPS player doesn't have what it takes to REALLY play Battlefield, because they've been spoon fed with CoD. Battlefield will be shunned outright on consoles, and by a good portion of the PC community for this reason. It takes too much skill. You can't run into a Battlefield match and do what I like to call "Playing MW2", where you run around and try to be John Rambo or John McLain, a one man army.

TL;DR: Battlefield makes anyone who is "good" (which is objective when it comes to CoD nowadays) at CoD, and diminishes their confidence. Eventually, they turn back to CoD, where they constantly play it, yet can't stop talking about how much they hate it.

BFBC2 Had sort of a discrete friend manager, but I'm glad that they are doing this, because that friend manager was ONLY a friend manager. I'm getting siked about this game

I enjoyed the simple "Autolog" features of NFS -- recommending between races based on friends' times or unlocking further races -- so there could be hope for this!

They're different games, and I'm not sure they'll translate...in BF infantry is definitely more mobile (because, for example, accuracy isn't affected post-sprinting like in ArmA). Vehicles are INCREDIBLY different between 'em.

No, you'd probably like Project Reality mod for BF2 more. Battlefield is still an arcade shooter, but it requires teamwork to win matches and it requires a more varied skill set than CoD. At the heart of it Battlefield still isn't meant to replicate reality. It's meant to have a lot of depth (large maps, lots of vehicles, freedom to experiment with different strategies, be a sandbox essentially, etc.), but remain accessible and fun.

I played BF2, lol. Do people think because you post you play one game you have not or must not have played another :/

I didn't like BC2, liked BF2 but everyone thinks because you don't like BC2 you won't like BF3. Ignorance ftw.

Your previous post insinuated that you hadn't played Battlefield games since you were speculating on how you would do in a Battlefield game after someone had described it based on your experience playing Arma 2. Also, you were comparing Arma 2 to BF3 based on the strategy that must be used to do well at it. I was simply saying that based on that statement, Arma 2 and BF3 will not translate that well in terms of pure strategy.

Never said you wouldn't like BF3. Just saying that if you're good at Arma 2, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll be a "god" at BF3. I never even mentioned Bad Company 2.
