470 Black screen trouble

Thread Starter
My pc sometimes will just randomly give me a blackscreen and cause me to restart my PC completely. Usually only happens when I first start it up/login to windows normally if it hasn't happened in the first 30mins it won't happen until I restart my pc etc

I'm guessing its a driver issue because sometimes I get a message saying the driver had stopped responding and has recovered so I've tried all the drivers from Nvidia (260 to 275 drivers) and so far It's not been cured!

Any suggestions?

Hi,
I had the very same problem.
I had random black screens that would lock the pc up and i'd need to reset it, this went on for around 3 month, virtually everytime there was a lockup it was at windows loading or shortly after windows loaded.
Tried everything from formatting to disabling things in device manager that might be conflicting with gfx card as it all worked fine with amd card i had before 470.

The fix came by luck, i formatted with a windows 7 sp1 os and never once had the problem since.

All things pionted at the windows 7 disc i was using as i kept on formatting from that disc for around 4 month and allways had the same problem with black screens.

For me a different windows 7 biuld fixed my issue, my issue allso sounds lots like yours and every1's here wink.gif.
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=187401

I would just like to piont out to everybody that there's a good chance there's nothing wrong with op psu ect as the lockup club is well documented.

Is it safe to format another bios onto the card? That was a suggestion but I'm not sure if I want to risk it

What should I do about installing EVGA sound drivers? Do I just download the latest version of my motherboard onboard sound drivers is that what this means?

u should read closer @ that op.. it has nothing to do with installing new drivers tho u could.. it is about disabling the onboard sound portion of ur video card.
