It's really not, it kept my 965 c2 @1.54v under 56c on a 10hr prime95 test. I dont know where all this talk about it being crappy is coming from. Sure, there are better coolers out there but the v8 is a good price/performance hsf. But seeing as OP doesnt have to worry about money, he should be getting a silver arrow a nh-d14.

An 850 is not enough to power two 6990s.

Is OCZ VTX3-25SAT3-480G Vertex 3 Solid State Drive - 480GB, 2.5", SATA III any good? I never owned an SSD before so ... don't kill me
post #24 of 79
Two 6990's . . . on air?! You'd be better off with tri-SLI 580's.

This list looks like someone went on Newegg and just picked whatever was at the bottom (most expensive) of the list for every component. O_o

But anyway, intel fanboyism was to be expected. I dont know how you can comment on this, before BD is even released. Keep biased opinions to yourself please. And while you are at it look up some CPU history.

That CM V8 cooler is really overpriced for what it does. The Scythe Mugen 2 is a better choice that's cheaper. It's OOS at newegg atm, but amazon still have them but costs a bit more:

newegg is $40:

That sounds like bait to me....

For all we know, BD may end up being better than Intel's current line-up.

Of course 3 580s are better than 2 6990s. Whats to say that 3 6990s arent better than 3 580s?

Not really... If hes going to expand passed 2 cards he should go ATI. Quad Crossfire? Yes please! Quad SLI? No sorry we cant yet.

Just because he has money doesnt make him some dumby who went through and start picking out the most expensive stuff. If he did that he would have all Intel/nVidia parts on his list.

And to all the people saying WAIT FOR BD!!! I completely disagree. Using Phenom II quad cores and even 6 cores is a brilliant idea for your new system. They are bringing the cost down SO much before they release BD that anyone can build a really awesome system that will be very good for years to come with minor updates. Look at all the people here with systems 4-5 years old CPU/Mobo wise, and they still running strong.

Bulldozer may very well end up dropping intels pants but at this time, anyone wanting to spend shed loads of cash on a high end build cannot rule out intels offerings
