The system is just a box. We already know it puts out HD graphics, on board flash memory and usb hard drive compatible, what more do you want to know? The controller is the selling point for the system.

This thread is hilarious. Equal amounts of people either complaining about the new controllers and "*** IS NINTENDO DOING" or complaining about Nintendo not innovating. Which is it guys? It can't be both.

Also, according to Engadget, the controllers are pretty comfortable, comparable to the Gamecube's controllers, which IMO is still the best designed controller ever. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a Wii U, but I'm going to be sure to try it before I make my final decision.

I like the direction Nintendo is going, this controller is going to be a nice selling point that will drive sales for this. Being able to stream games right to the 6 inch display is going to be a cool feature since you can play full console games in any room of your house in the palm of your hand with a nice display.

Also, it seems that Nintendo is really going towards the hard core crowd this time around, they already have a lineup of games which im sure are going to look gorgeous and be m rated such as Ninja Gaiden, Ghost Recon, Metro 2034, and EA already says they cant wait to get to work. Im pretty excited for a true HD zelda game, gonna be a fun time.

EDIT: And one thing that other companies should learn from Nintendo: BACKWARDS COMPARABILITY IS IMPORTANT.
lets think about this a moment...
The 360 plays alot of the original Xbox games... means backwards compatibility.
the ps3 (at least the originals...) play PS2 and PS1 games... means backwards compatibility.
The DSi, and the 3DS play Gameboy advance games... oh wait...
the only reason this console can play Gamecube games, is because they are DVD format (mini though) and bluray drives can play DVDs.

What if it's bulky? No one remembers the original XBOX controller? My fingers are relatively long and I had problems to reach the top buttons!!!

As long as it's not heavy, it'll be alright. And Nintendo has some experience doing light things, unlike Sony (AHEM the PSP was a damn brick)

Maybe it's not intended to be carried around? Maybe it's light and you can move it as if it was a 3DS? (overall screen size is similar, wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't cross the 200g barrier) What if...?

Too many incognites to only judge by a photo.

But hardcore consolers will stick to their prehistoric controllers, just because they refuse to get used to a new system.

it's always been this way, it will always be.

Ninja: And the Dreamcast? That was HEAVY!! I played while resting my hands on the lap. I got tired after holding it for 10 minutes.

The 360 has issues with alot of Xbox 1 games and many are not even supported. As for Nintendo's backward compatibility on the hand helds, GBA was supported until the DSi came about. Also this comparison was made to the home consoles not handhelds. Nintendo has done a fantastic job supporting the older platforms where as M$ and $ony have not. Heck, most PS3's out there cannot play PS2 games at all only PS1. Xbox 360 requires a HDD to play Xbox 1 games and not all of them either. All Wii's have the ability to play GC games. I am looking forward to WiiU personally. Looks fantastic
