My guess is you'll get two years out of one card with 1920x1080p resolution with maxed settings and a third year if you turn off AA. I've got a GTX 580. Sure it's not SLI but it could be.
If Kepler is on time, which new releases especially new architecture hasn't been in the past, then it will be around December before the new year.
The GTX 580 dosen't have any issues. It's Fermi matured after they redesigned some of the previous series issues. Nice powerful card to have.
I myself would rather wait out the first run of Kepler. Let them iron out bugs if any by the series after that in Maxwell. That's my opinion of speculation on how it might turn out though.
