That's good to know! Messing with servers is why I started thinking if IT is really what I want to do. I want to work with networks, not with servers. I was told Network Admin is a generic term and they have to do it all. Either way I won't be attending college until next year so I can grab a CCNA book and start studying early that I way I'm ahead of my classmates .

One more thing. Experience. Where can I get experience from while in college? All job postings I've seen require it, and it seems experience is the biggest dilemma for some. Any tips?

zing! consider that japan has the highest suicide rate in the world...

I do desktop administration at a 911 call center and I like it. I enjoy my freelance computer repair/custom building work much more, but just being in the field keeps you brushed up on technology. I'm also still in school.

As for what OS to focus on that depends on what you see yourself doing. For what I do, I interact with Windows more than anything else, but the guys just across the hall from me actually do the network mapping for 911 and use linux. I can say that my job is much easier than theirs, and that they get paid alot more than I do (though i still make bank, but these guys are on call 24/7 getting 80/hour when they get called in at 3:00am).
