Thanks Mattshewster. I'm still torn because I do still want the best that I can afford to get even for this temporary purpose. However the fact is that majority of my income comes from music so I'm still looking for just the temporary quick fix to get me back to work. My royalty check won't be in until a few months, so I have to ration money. But I don't want to make the wrong decision.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize that others had responded.

Ok... so i should also look into a different mobo. I've heard that ASUS is good on them, but any advice as to other companies? My old mobo was a BIOSTAR TFORCE so I'm not sure that I trust them much now since it only lasted 2 years.

This also brings another question. Will a PCI Express x16 video card work in a PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot on a mobo? I have an older video card (GeForce 7900GT) which although is old and useless for gaming, still serves its purposes for my audio needs. This is why I guess I can only find these older mobo's because I've been making sure that the have a PCI Express x16 slot.

Should get this instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131728

It has a better and newer chipset and everything. It costs a bit more, but should be worth it.
