Will DDR3 2000 make a noticeable difference, or should I just stick with my 1333 and wait for LGA2011 before getting new memory? (Or will a LGA2011 MoBo take the same sticks of RAM?)
not much but you can overclock further with it

Thanks everybody.

Does anybody know how many RAM slots LGA 2011 MoBos are likely to have? If they're quad channel, will they have 4 or 8 slots?

Both. A lot of the original mobos will likely have just 4 slots. But enthusiast boards will likely all have 8, probably with 4 sticks to each side of the socket.

So to necro this somewhat old thread, and jack it. Would you guys recommend buying ram for a planned socket 2011 upgrade now? Was looking at something like G.SKILL Ripjaws X + Fan Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2200 or is something going to come out along the way that will probably be better suited for the 2011 socket?

We really don't know so much about the platform. Yes the RAM in question would work and would be fine but personally as I'm also looking to upgrade to X79/LGA2011 I'd say wait. Who knows what we'll find out about the whole platform? maybe the IMC doesn't like the specific chips etc.

Too little information to make a purchase. At least for me.
