Project: Wooden drawer case [Updated 6/15]

Hello OCn. I've been dreaming a lot about building a case out of wood ever since I started getting into assembling computers. Well this summer I'm going to make it happen. The decision was made after I realized that first time in my life I really have the money to do this. So, the basic idea is to buy some folding/mining (still haven't decided which) hardware, slap some watercooling to them and have them all in a very convenient case. And what could be more convenient than a drawer for a folding rig? Please tell me if you figure it out. I have been drawing designs with Google Sketchup (great program btw!) for a week now and tomorrow I'm going to the hardware store and buy some plywood and pine or birch wood boards if they have them in a proper size at reasonable price. The motherboard tray is going to be made of aluminum which I already have enough.

I could use an advice considering photo uploading. I have my own FTP server but I don't that's the best way to upload the pictures. Also I've noticed that people don't really use the OCn uploading feature a lot so should I just register to photobucket or something?

The other thing is that I really don't have any name for this project. To me it's just the "wooden drawer case" project so any suggestions are more than welcome biggrin.gif

The design

I had this crazy drawer folding machine idea one night and oh boy has it kept me awake many nights after that. It's quite simple to be honest but I don't want anything too complicated for my first real project. There are few things missing in the design though, for example fan grills aren't included. So here are the pictures of the design (uploaded temporarily to my FTP):

The setup

I've been discussing about the watercooling components over the watercooling section (obviously) since this is the first time I'm attempting on building a WC loop. Makes this project just a bit more exciting smile.gif I have only plans for the first case because my budget isn't just there for two crossfire setups yet. I'm planning on upgrading my main computer to sandy bridge (intel gets back into the house after almost ten years of outdoor feeding) and giving away my dear 720BE setup for the folding/mining needs. The processor won't be doing anything so it clearly doesn't need watercooling hence only the GPUs are going under water.

The setup:

AMD Phenom II 720BE
Asus M4A78T-E
2x ref. 6950s unlocked
4GB DDR3 1333MHz
1TB HDD
Corsair TX650 V2
360 NexXxoS Pro III Radiator Rev.2
2x NexXxoS ATXP blocks

Slowly starting the project today. Didn't get the wood yet but I managed to make the motherboard tray stands. Also destroyed one plate of aluminum due to lack of drilling skills rolleyes.gif Learning all the time..

Watercooling kit and hardware ordered today smile.gif

On sidenote: My dad's helping me with this project, a lot credit goes to him. I design and he helps me with the structures. Last summer at home so I've got to take everything out of it wink.gif

That's the dream smile.gif

Edit: The project has been delayed a bit. I've the wood now for the frame but plywood is still a bit of a problem.

Thank you! I feel like I'm betraying you because I really haven't done anything yet but bought some materials but then again I do have a work where I do three shifts. Now I have three days off and I got more aluminum, also I should have all the wood materials I need. Watercooling kit is on it's way and other components should arrive next week. So I'm hoping the project will truly kick off soon kungfu.gif

Edit: I checked your projects. God, I hope I had that kind of a workspace thumb.gif

Cant wait to see how this goes biggrin.gif

Haha, yeah my workspace is epic. I have the keys to a private schools manual arts block worth ~$1,000,000.
