i7-2600K cooler

Thread Starter
I have dug through a few threads that talk about this, but I figured I would ask as I cannot find anything too helpful. I am getting an i7-2600K, I am not really an overclocker, I have never overclocked, if it is easy I may try it but I know that it seems to be agreed that the stock cooler is terrible even at stock speeds. So I am wondering if it is worth spending $70+ on a nh-d14, or if that is overkill and I need something else. Thanks!

Welcome to OCN. It is overclockers.net afterall, Might as well buy the best and start learning how to OC!

Or just get a Cooler Master Hyper 212+ You can OC a way's on that if you ever do, and it's cheap.

The hyper 212+ seems to get a lot of love on this forum, that's a good sign! Does anyone have any idle/load temperatures for the i7-2600K with this cooler? I am kind of new to this so what kind of temperatures am I even looking for? What is considered stable/healthy/a good place to be at in terms of temperature?

Hi Valon
I got a Noctua NH-D14 with my i7-2600k cpu. I works really great with a little OC @ 4.4k Ghz.

Here what I got :

Idle temperature was measured while browsing on the web and load was measured while playing The Witcher 2 on Ultra setting @ 1920*1200.

My cpu temp is barely moving biggrin.gif You can't go wrong with either the NH-D14 or Silver Arrow, the TRUE is a good contender also.

Hope this helps smile.gif

Really nice, I am wondering how the hyper212+ is at stock if anyone knows.
But with those temps it seems like the nh-d14 would be worth the money, I can always learn to overclock and get the full potential out of it.

For air, I definitely recommend the Noctua D14.

Thermal Radar coming with the Asus Sabertooth P67 and Asus Ai Suite II smile.gif
Very convinient monitoring tool to know which part of the motherboard gets hot, so you can fine tune your case cooling.
