Witcher 2 Low FPS - Page 2

Hmm well if I turn OFF ubersampling I'm pulling 40-70FPS. Not sure if that changes the situation

Also all of my drivers should be up to date my buddy who did my OCing on my CPU also went through and ensured all of my drivers were updated for the MOBO, SB, GPUs, etc. But i'll attempt it. So you think running the sliders up might be the culprit?

Edit: Dropped the sliders and lost 2-3 FPS

Seems about right to me. Ubersampling renders each frame four times, and will easily 1/4 your framerate. Make sure you are patched to 1.2. Patch 1.1 gave a 5%-30% performance increase.

As others have said, AMD processors tend to be subpar in some games, this being one of them. I feel like 40-70FPS is the best you are going to do until new drivers. The games SLI/Crossfire scaling is pretty meh right now.

1: you shouldn't let anyone else OC your system, when something goes wrong you won't be able to sort it yourself due to lack of experience.

2: The latest drivers are not on the same page as the hotfix drivers, you need the hotfix for the witcher, its likely a driver issue if your frames differ that much with w/o AA on dual GPU setup imo.

Go re-download the hotfix driver set.

I have a feeling you are not stable.

also lol @ thuban

Thuban is a good middle-of-the-road, last-gen architecture if you don't game. It doesn't compete with newer things (SB), and it's wildly overpriced (the majority of the time).

1055T Vs. i5 760:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/147?vs=191

Comparable to a 760 of the last generation at similar clock speeds. The 760 often pulls ahead, but occasionally the 1055T comes out on top.

I'll try the hotfix and see what happens. Also, so people don't think I'm completely stupid, my buddy does it for living, otherwise he wouldn't be touching my gear, haha.

But thats how it works around here? Claim a company is bad and be labeled a fanboy. wink.gif

Also can someone chime in here, as I have little knowledge on the newer ATI cards. He's using a 850W PSU with 2x 6970. Isn't that around the recommend wattage for just a single 6970? My GTX 580 loads my computer at ~750W according to my UPS. I'm highly doubting 850W is enough.

Really? That's strange because my readings from my 580+2600k (4.4ghz on low rpm air mind you) takes maximum 400w from the wall in synthetic loads on both gpu+cpu. Many people run 580 SLI from an 850w. It's fine. I'm sure the 6970 is fine because it runs even lower power consumption. With a kill-a-watt mind you. Heck I've run my 580 with my corsair 550vx which is no amazing power supply by any long shot.

40-70 FPS with uber sampling off sounds about right for your CPU and GPU configuration.

Ok just did the hotfix and the game is running much, much, smoother on Ubersampling, but the FPS only went up by 1 or 2. So it looks like that worked quite a bit. Perhaps I should just reinstall the drivers altogether as well?

No no, I know you didn't! I just wanted to point that out since people who are seeing my issues but notice I have a 4.0GHz oc'ed CPU would probably wonder why I can't figure out a GPU issue, haha.
