Upgrading Graphics Cards

Thread Starter
So I recently upgraded from my 5770 crossfire setup to a 5870 2GB crossfire setup. Just like anything of mine, its always for sale for the right price. So as you can guess my 5870s are now gone haha.

My question is what would you guys recommend for a replacement? I want to get something as up to date as possible, such as a 5 series Nvidia or a 6 series AMD card. I am kind of leaning towards a 6950 (unlocked to 6970) crossfire setup. My budget is about $500 CAD, so I would have to wait for a sale on the 6950s.

My requirements are something that will push on average at least 50FPS on a three monitor (5760x1080) configuration. So if i go with Nvidia I will have to do a dual card setup for sure.

So what are you guys' suggestions?

Thanks for any input,
Josh

go for a 6950 and flash the BIOS to 6970, but actually the performance of your station is great now, there's no need to upgrade indeed.

Two AMD 5870 2GB crossfire is greater than one AMD 6950 2Gb $270 even unlocked. Stick with what you have.

Two 6950's will be your best option at your price range for your setup. Overclocked and unlocked they can play most games maxed at that resolution with decent frame rates. About the only game I have found I can't play maxed with my eyefinity setup is the Witcher 2. I have to turn off ubersampling if I want to play it in eyefinity.

Not with a $500 budget if he's including after tax or shipping. One AMD 6950 is $270 or I'd have suggested it too.

If he can catch them on sell or maybe find some discount codes, some with some nice rebates he might be able to get a couple of 6950's around that price. I don't see a lesser setup being able to give him what he wants.
