Thanks for the replies, i dont need a cooler because i have one i can use. The lga775 brackets do not fit on the motherboard it has. How well do you think this pc could run wow if i pop in my 4870 when i replace it in my sig rig/change motherboard/reformat it?

Depends on the resolution but if you oc the CPU using the FSB it might be still be enjoyable.

Luckily it would only be at 1280x1024 on my TV, so It could play decent. I know it wont be great for gaming as that cpu will be a huge bottleneck for the graphics card.

If i pick up that intel motherboard is there a chance i could overclock it? Or should i just go the software overclocking route?

Did you read the article?
By overclocking the FSB it is possible.

"The 20x multiplier is burned into the CPU and may not be altered using a special BIOS, nor with a hardware jumper on the motherboard.
Since the D 805's multiplier is fixed, there's only one way to overclock it: by increasing the clock speed for the front side bus." -Tom's Hardware

3.0 - 3.2 GHz with a 4870 and at least 2GB of memory at that resolution with this dual core should be adequate for WoW. You need a BIOS that supports overclocking the FSB on an Intel motherboard.

New thermal paste and a better fan for the heatsink still applies IMO.

Well im not worried about the air cooling now, I have a ziggy s183 i believe sitting around here with the 775 brackets. I just need to get a motherboard that i can overclock with.

I did read a few paged of the article, i have yet to sit and read the whole thing though. im gonna be picking up some AS5 when i order the motherboard as well to help things out.
