Does the second fan on a 212+ really help?

Thread Starter
Probably grabbing a 212+ for my new 2500k rig. Wondering if I should order an extra fan for a push/pull configuration - does it really make a difference for temps?

The second fan wouldn't spin up/down on the cpu temperature PWM since there's only one fan connector for that, right? Does that make a difference, if the one fan is blowing up and down with the load and the other is just constant rate? Would you want the pusher or puller to be the one on the cpu fan pwm?

Not really.

Two fans is better for quiet/ low RPM fans. One good fan won't really benefit all that much if you add another fast one.

It dosen't really help that much, but you can run them at low speeds and it works better and quieter. I taped the sides, used 2 fans and shrouds. Here is a pic

I haven't put it into my PC yet beacuse im wating for my shin etsu to arrive.

What kind of difference would taping the sides make?

OK my 212 is slightly lapped, taped sides, shrouded and push pull.

Taping the sides can drop 1-3c btw.

My 212 has 2 low rpm case fans on it. It works great like this. But if I had a high rpm one, Id run just one fan on it, coz it would perform just as well like that as it does now with 2 low rpm case fans on it.
