Crossfire XFX 5850

Thread Starter
Hey guys

so i have two XFX 5850, i know they are pretty old now, but i got them for CHEAPP!!. there was a deal at tigerdirect, about a month ago, that had the cards for 135 AR shipped with no tax for CA, plus ebillme and selling of the shogun, which netted to around 180 for two of these bad boys.

anyway, I haven't gone about crossfire yet because I wanted to save it for a new build, possibly over summer, plus my msi board only supports sli. I was just wondering if the support for 5850 crossfire got better, and if there are still scaling issues in most games?

if it is still bad, I will probably just sell it and wait for another deal.

thanks guys

For the most part, I think crossfire performance for the 5850 has improved since its launch. It might be better to do a little research on the particular games that you play. If you need any help, post the game(s) here, and I'm sure you'll get lots of help from OCN.

Cheers!

I went Crossfire with my old rig which had 5830's, so pretty much the same thing. Honestly, I wish I had just gotten a better card so I could stay single GPU. It works well for some games, but what I found was many games either don't support multi-gpu, or simply just do not scale well. I'm sorry to say this, but for me it was a horrible experience. That's why when I bought my new rig I got one GTX 570 and haven't looked back.

Same here... I have HD 5850 Standard + Black Edition Hd 5850. Runs like a champ! I love it... I'm planning on selling them cuz its time to upgrade GPU's But that will happen in 2 or 3 months anyways.

I think the latest drivers have improved Crossfire on 5850s

You might wanna check out how well it runs on some of the videos i have on my Youtube Channel.
