Problems with my new sound card

Thread Starter
Just got my Xonar DG recently and while it's not the highest end sound card I expected it to work at least without crashing. Recently (last 3 days or so) the card has emitted a very loud static wail proceeding the card ultimately crashing the computer today I had my first bluescreen and the wailing happened just a few minutes before. In fact I was typing this and bluescreened with a loud static wail. What is going on now the sound card isn't working, this is a nightmare.

Edit: Now it's not turning on period, I think it's completely shot after less than a week, can someone please tell me what's wrong!

I take it you have pulled and inspected the slot and also tried another slot. In the BIOS be sure any other sound is disabled and that the PCI Bus clocks are set to the default 100mhz and so forth.. consult your manual..

See if any other uses in forums have the same issue/s with this card and mobo's

This might explain why it's not starting up, Windows was saying the card didn't have resources, but why did it crash I'm so irritated and I'm unfamiliar with how to RMA.

try this, try booting without the card and see if you experience any issues.

if none works, uninstall the drivers, reinstall the card then reinstall fresh drivers then reboot.
also disable integrated "onboard" sound hardware via the device manager

Done Done Done and Done, the card does not start with the system, I have no clue what happened but it's only been a week and a brand new card just died. I completely regret buying it since I can't tell the difference between onboard and that soundcard anyway.

Anyway it seems like firefox and your sound card's drivers had a little disagreement.

Anyway it seems like firefox and your sound card's drivers had a little disagreement.
That makes sense, I only recall crashing when firefox was on. It's waterfox by the way so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Now the card doesn't start when I boot up my system, I tried both PCI slots, I checked and made sure the speed was at 100 mhz, I reinstalled the latest driver countless times and even windows plug and play woudn't make a difference. I'm afraid the card is dead but want to be sure I rule out any other possibilities.
