OC or driver GTX580 issue

I just bought 2 EVGA GTX580's for SLI and have EK blocks and back plates on them. My temps never go above 49*C when playing Crysis warhead maxed out for 2 hours. Running 275.33 drivers.

My problem is when I run 3DMark11 at anything over factory clocks I get a driver fail. But when I'm running Crysis I found a 900 core to be stable and I don't get driver crashes. I'm wondering if this an OC issue or simply driver related. I also scored a 4057 with these in extreme mode and was wondering if this is normal?

Lastly, when I pulled off the factory heat sinks I found that one of the cards had different thermal pads and one covered the little chips next to the mosfet's and the other one did not. Also, one of the R125's had a very small flake/chip off the top of it, but I didn't think it would hurt anything...but will this be causing my issue? This was also on the same card that had the different thermal pads.

Do you increase voltage while raising the core? If you don't its likely an unstable overclock.

No I wasn't increasing voltage, I wanted to stay at factory volts. But I read that the stock voltage on some of the OC cards are at 1.08v, is there any truth to this? I gently bumped the volts and settled at 1.088 or 1.09 which HWM is reading at the 900 core I was shooting for. I've been running 3Dmark11 for about 15min on extreme in loop without issue. My temps are 54*c 1st card and 52*c on the second. Is the 1.08v safe to run 24/7 with my water set up? I just don't want my chips to blow up since it cost $950 for these things.

Sry for being such an idiot on this, I've always ran ATI/AMD cards and they handle voltage pretty well so I've never been worried about frying one.

What is the average ram OC on these?

After about an hour of running several 3DMark11 loops in extreme mode it's now stable and I haven't gotten any kind of driver crash.

But does anyone know if 1.09v is safe for 24/7 use?
