Try for 5 GHz?

Thread Starter
My 2500k is already stable at 4.5GHz and takes about 1.37 volts to do it. Should I try to push it to 5.0GHz?

4.8 i would say

If you don't mind getting another chip if something goes bad, then why not?
Yeah, I would try to stay below 1.4v if possible. That looks to be a voltage hungry CPU there though.

If you REALLY need to. Yes.
My advice is to stay under 1.4. But i like play to safe.

I wouldn't run it at 5.0ghz 24/7 at that high voltage your chip will degrade faster then you say save money to buy another one

Do it!! With the cooling set up you have and these chips are as cheap as chips GO FOR IT!!. It would most likely take more than 1.44v on your chip if 1.37v for 4.5ghz. Then again you could compromise and see if you can get 4.8ghz with 1.41v, should be fine...
4.8ghz is plenty for 24/7 but as long as your cooling is up to it, then push for 5ghz.

My chip is very voltage hungry, needs 1.525v in BIOS, idles at 1.512v and loads P95 at 1.476v. Temps at hitting 72c with HT on. Your temps will be on average 10c lower without the HT. At 4.8ghz I need 1.45 in BIOS, loads at 1.392v. but my temps don't go over 62c. Thats why I run mine at 5ghz

Also Ivy Bridge is coming, so for me I don't care if I degrade this chip any further lol.
