$1600 intel build suggestions

Thread Starter
I would like to build a new Sandy Bridge computer for $1600 before rebates. I have a build I was just wondering if I should change anything. Any help would be appreciated.

dvd drive: SAMSUNG CD/DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-222AB - OEM 19.99

case: Corsair Obsidian Series 650D $10 mail in rebate 199.99

hdd: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 64.99

video card: EVGA 015-P3-1580-AR GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 1536MB 384-bit 489.99 $30 mail in rebate

psu: CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-850HX 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Modular 164.99

memory: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 84.99

Mobo: EVGA P67 SLI 130-SB-E675-KR LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard 189.99 $20 mail in rebate

cpu: Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz 224.99

ssd: Corsair Force CSSD-F40GB2-A 2.5" 40GB SATA II 99.99 $10 mail in rebate

subtotal:$1,539.91
shipping:$16.67
total:$1,556.58
After rebate:$1476.58

Also i would like to maybe run SLI (which im Guessing may require a better psu) and some slight overclocks.

edit: changed hdd to samsung f3 1tb and psu to corsair hx 850w modular power supply plus gtx 580 and ssd

Very solid build! I have nothing to say. Psu is very good, gpu is nice also, you've got a nice deal on the mobo and the ram is good, tight timmings and low voltage.
Really good choice of parts.
Good luck building!

850 should be more than enough to run 570 SLI, 750 is probably more than enough, actually. You'll get suggestions to look at the Samsung F3's for your harddrive and you'll probably get suggestions to go with a different PSU maker (Corsair).

BTW, where are you, it makes a difference in what parts are available at what prices.

Ya, you should get an antec, corsair, seasonic, or an xfx psu

This is what I'd say too. Try to make sure its modular too. everything else is great. It'll blow you away. But what are you planning on using for your CPU cooler? You can't not overclock a sandybridge):

On newegg, there are promos for the 2500K for $209 instead of $224. Save you some $$ there.

Ditch the 640GB HDD. Drives similar to mine (Spinpoint F3 and WD Caviar Black 1Tbs) are often found for about $55. So, less money and 30% more storage.

Similarly, if you keep your eyes open for the deals, GTX 580s can be had for about $380. You're already at $330 for a 570, can you put another $50 in for a big upgrade? Besides, 570s are the most problematic of the 5xx series. They have poor power regulation and can burn out on ya.

850w should be enough to power an SLI configuration. So no worries there. However, I'm not familiar with the KINGWIN brand. Have you looked at Corsairs or Silverstreams? They are pretty well-regarded PSUs.

Kingwin Lazer 850 is a really good psu. Great features for the price and good efficiency also. It's modular which is nice. See review here.
