First Boot Error, PLEASE HELP! first computer...

Hello all,

I recently bought a Pc kit off Newegg this is it:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...t=Combo.653785

It arrived yesterday, I put it all together and made sure all the connections were secured before powering up for the first time. I connected it my LCD tv and I get the following message.

"Reboot and Select proper Boot Device
or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key."

I assumed this was due to the fact that I hadn't put in the motherboard drivers disc yet. So I opened up the DVD and put in the disc and pressed a key. It blinked, spun the disc for a fraction of a second and then nothing. The computer just displayed the same message as before.

If you clicked the link to see my specs it came with a 60gb SSD which i want to be the boot drive. I have already installed windows 7 ultimate on it using the spare slot in my laptop. I hooked it back up to the tower after installing that and set it to boot first but i still get the same message :/ It is recognizing the ssd being there but isnt booting it, it seems. I also bought an extra 1tb WD caviar black HDD but its not even connected yet. oh and i havent mentioned it yet but i have a ASUS P8Z68-V Mobo

I've been searching for a few hours now and can't find an answer that fits my exact situation. If anyone knows what to do or has any ideas please help!!

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried going into the bios & selecting the ssd as the 1st boot device?

Don't know if it would have anything to do with the ssd cache deal, never tried a z68 myself. If you have any USB devices plugged in maybe pull those out.
There should also be a menu in the same area of the bios where you select the first boot device, etc. that will let you select the boot order for HDD & usb devices.
Worst comes to worst you can boot to the windows cd & should be able to see the ssd in there, kinda sucks to install windows again when you just did though, hopefully someone who has that board will see this & can help out.

Most of the time windows wont let you install it on one computer and boot to it on a different computer, try hooking up the ssd to the new computer and installing windows from that computer instead

well the thing is i dont have the OS cd... What i did is took a version of it and burned it to a dvd-r. but it installed fine on the SSD while it was hooked up to my laptop. I did make sure that all usb ports are empty except for my keyboard. I have never used an SSD before and this is my first Computer that ive built so im a little lost :/

...what?

if you can burn it to a dvd, just put it into the new computer and set the dvd drive as the first boot option, and it will install from there

the ssd wont behave any differently from an hdd as far as installing windows if thats useful to you

Nah, it should be fine, just make sure you tell it to do a clean install

Windows 7 is pretty forgiving, can use 1 drive with it installed on different x58 & p67 rigs, but never installed from a laptop first, that may make a difference.

You can try to repair the current install from the win7 dvd, otherwise format or it will save the old install to a folder & eat up space.
