Dissapointed in Sapphire - Page 3

I would just buy the best single card you can afford. A 6870/560ti/6950 handles 1680x1050 absolutely fine. Maybe crossfire one of those later on down the road if you want more power in games that are released in the future..

If you bought from another vendor... coughs big giant forest in south america, you would've gotten free advanced replacements and ZERO out of pocket expenses and at the end of it all returned the whole thing if you were still unhappy.

I have never had a good experience from Amazon... Although I suppose I have never bought from them, always 3rd party.

How old is this PSU? After 20,000 hrs of high end usage or 100,000 hrs of idle usage your way into the life span.

Were these GPU's open box? When they resent you new ones, even though down graded was it new or open box?

Before returning them did you try them in another rig to see if was the GPU or something else?

I've owned a couple Sapphire and never had any problems. Sure it was before I started to over clock but they ran for a long time until I sold them. Still going strong in an aunts computer of my friend.

If your mad at anyone, it should be Newegg for not having a free return shipping for DOA products if they were actually the culprit.

On the other side of your story, it looks like the 5000 series cards are dwindling down to the few as they aren't in production anylonger. Moving up to the 6000 series would probably been a better route for you.

Good luck and if you do find out please post back and let us know what the problem was.

Even if your PSU is only good for about 450w, that's still enough to power HD 5850 crossfire. As said, it could still be the 12v rails aren't up to par. Either way, with a single HD 5850 in my system, it loads at around 320w at most.
