Desktop Hangs, When Case is BUMPED.

Thread Starter
I just noticed this during the summer, When I accidentally bumped my case, my desktop hangs. I cannot even move the mouse so i always restart it.

What can be the cause of this hang? the mobo?
because when I plugged my iPod sometimes, it says "plug it in a high speed usb 2.0 port" so maybe my motherboard seems to be showing its age.

What are your opinions?

I had this problem with my old rig, what I did to solve it was make sure the mobo was down good, reseated the RAM, CPU, and GPU, and I never had that problem again. I also made sure the HDD was not loose in any way possible.

In my experience i get this issue when my RAM becomes unsettled, even a tiny knock can cause errors. Check to ensure your ram is in securely and that no power cords are in all the way.

Good luck.

This could be because your motherboard isnt secured tightly and when it gets hit, it causes a short. Also, maybe your backplate is very close to the motherboard tray causing it to short when its hit.

I would disassemble the computer and just make sure there is no short or a grounding issue.

It doesn't seem like a power issue, if it was the computer would power off instantly.

This used to happen to me when I move my desktop. Just check how everything is screwed and secured in place especially the hard drive.
