Fried Motherboard? What the hell?

Okay so I'm just going to get straight into it. About a month ago I took my video card out (selling) and put an old one in. Fired up my machine and no picture on the monitor, computer would not even attempt to boot. All fans were running (Motherboard, case fans, video card and CPU cooler) and all Lights were on. I figured "Busted video card", Right. Purchased a new one (8800GT, old stock I know but I got it for $40 new in the box from Zotac) whacked it in there, card fires up, same symptoms. No beeps. No post. Right. Thought it was the CPU. Purchased an AMD Phenom II X2 560 off of another OC.net user, it arrived today. Chip was in perfect condition, no bent pins or anything (my old cpu had bent pins and one missing.. was a phenom II 550) Put it in and it is the same problem.. Computer fires up.. no post or beeps.

I am at whits end and do not want to waste money on parts I dont need.. the local computer shop wants to charge me $35 for part diagnostics.. screw that.

So basically all there is left is the RAM (perfect condition also..) Motherboard and the PSU.

Specs of the entire system:

Phoenix AM2+ mATX board (not sure of exact name.. came with original system)
2GB Kingston DDR2 800 (1 Stick)
Zotac 8800GT 512m
Phenom II X2 560
Generic LG DVD burner
WD Caviar black 1TB
500w psu

Please help guys, this problem sucks.

Cheers.

I'm not thread crapping or anything but....who the heck is phoenix?

Take the motherboard out. Put it on a cardboard box and try starting up. No HD or sound card or anything. Just the bareminimum. This will make sure something isn't shorting the motherboard out. Also make sure you reset the CMOS. Battery out and jump the pins to make sure it's reset

So you guys think motherboard? What are the chances of RAM failing, and what are the symptoms of a screwed PSU?

Screwed PSU= Flames/smoke
RAM failing= Won't boot.

Try 1 stick of ram, then try the other. Then try each stick in each slot.

And how do you know this? Did you actually test it in another system?

I meant perfect condition in terms of aesthetics, no evidence of being fried / broken slot pins etc.
