Yeah, use some kind of spirit or citrus-based cleaner to clean off the remaining paste. Try to use a cloth or old rag rather than tissue paper. Tends to break off too easily.

Try to get some case fans if you can to be honest, but if your side panel is open, then it wont make a huge difference.

Oh, I would just use the pea method for the paste.

FYI - My 2600K reads 1.322 volts in cpuz. I get 71C on the hottest core while running prime. I used mx2 and lapped the D14 only, not the cpu.

to get a better idea on what temps you should get with certain voltages, take a look at the spreadsheet in the 'sandy stable club'

Hope that helps.

best way to clean it is isopropyl alcohol and coffee filters. Coffee filters are completely lint free and work perfect. If you don't have any isopropyl and you go to buy some, try and get over 90%, but I would say anything over 85% will work.

after getting tired of reseating my heatsink (and running out of TIM) ive come to the following oc:

4.4ghz at 1.25vcore
pll disabled
llc ultra high
OC'd via turbo multiplier
(VID is now reported at 1.3611 using coretemp)
doesnt seem to exceed 68degrees now, p95 large fft's - 65 degrees with blend test

However my idle temps are still ridiculously high, but i guess ill just have to live with that it may have something do to with my CPU not properly speedstepping - it doesnt seem to go below 3400mhz at any time, no matter how long of an idle period i give it

if you know of any good tweaks to apply please do tell

Anyway thanks for the help guys, im off to run p95 for an extended period of time to test if this oc is actually stable

Hey,

I had exactly the same issue as you, and now I'm on stock clocks at 33c, ambient in my room was 27 when I took that, it's really hot here at the moment.

It was idling at 40c+, I was worried too, until I took off all over-volting settings and installed a 50mm fan in my Sabertooth TUF armour. But another odd thing is, when I access the BIOS, my CPU temperature is at 49c, when I log into Windows it goes to 33... I'm wondering if there's a small issue with some of the i7 2600k's temperature sensor?, can't quite put my finger on it.

When I get some money, I'm going to invest in an H100, heard amazing things about it! But my CM V8 does for now I guess.

What temperature are you getting according to the BIOS? And have you seen a temperature difference between no overvolting, and overvolting?

im getting similar high temp readings from the BIOS, around 47 - 50 degrees, overvolting settings does not seem to change this temp for me in the BIOS at all - so for now im just gonna assume this is a common error with p67 and similar chipsets

To be honest, I think we should ignore the temperatures, because they're definitely at least 5 degrees out. I don't know why taking overvolting doesn't work for you... Would it help you if I listed my BIOS settings to see if that works?

What BIOS is it... is it 1502? If so, it's the same one as me.

got this error after about 2 hours of p95 with 1.24vCore :
FATAL ERROR: Final result was 9CDC1FFB, expected: 1D259540.
back to testing on 1.25vCore instead :,(

Yes please do list your BIOS settings - i am running the 0501 BIOS, but i am also using a asus p8z68 pro and not the p67 series, so my BIOS (even though its the same) is farily newer, and thus only have 1 update so far, however i expect our BIOS's to be 99% the same in terms of settings

Mine is only at stock clocks, I haven't overclocked at all! I'll list it in a bit, I'm just having dinner XD!

Have you put your ram to XMP 2? I'm wondering if the RAM could effect it?
