Microsoft SideWinder X8 - U$ 37.99 Shipped - NewEgg - Page 2

I have an x5 and love it. I had to get used to it, though. I have small-medium sized hands, and the x5 and pretty large.

But if you have larger hands, this mouse is EXCELLENT.
I concur, when I had it, it felt like it was for bigger hands.

I use a plain bluetooth mouse as a "Remote" for my media PC though.

Ooooh, this one has the rechargable batteries built in so you can use it as a wired mouse too while it charges. I thought the Sidewiders all used stupid AA batteries.

I might actually get this...

I might just leave it corded and use it as a make shift battery recharager. Our battery recharger always has a pile of batteries waiting to get charged anyway. I would just have to swap them out more often.
I thought so at first, but ever since owning the G7 then the x8, Mamba and the G700, my expereince with wireless gaming mouses have been greatly postive.

The X8 does have one neat feature and that's the magentic connection which makes going from wireless to wired or vice versa a simple task compared to the rest. But that's the only postive thing. The built quality is ok, the plastic does feel cheap and the software interface is ok.

For the money atm, its a "good" deal for someone who wants to try the X8 and has big hands.

The x8 is decent, and like most of the posts here say, it is quite large. Even though after a couple of months and it still feels huge to me, i've gotten used to it (and the auto dpi changing buttons <3) and I can do really good in bfbc2 on it.

my only gripes:
- buttons are not ALL customizable... some buttons like the 3 dpi buttons can't be remapped to something else if in case you only needed 2 of them for DPI, also the big silver button on the top of the mouse opens specifically the games folder in windows and for us that use steam, it's useless... and cant be remapped (AFAIK, if someone has, TELL ME!)
- scroll wheel when i first got it was kinda stiff and so was the pressing down (for middle click)... it has since gotten easier for me to use, i'm not sure if i've adapted or if the scroll wheel loosened up from use (crazy bfbc2 weapon scrolling from shotgun to pistol ). And the threads on the wheel, IMO, offer too little resistance and it's hard to scroll.
- wireless connection is over 2.4GHz... and so is wifi... using it by my laptop while downloading at 100 mbps on a wireless N connection at 2.4 GHz makes for choppy movements.
- dpi sensitivity has preset levels to choose from... cant make custom ones... so yeah a little annoying especially when you want something right between two preset sensitivities.

not a great mouse imo.
had 2 break on me (the left and right clicks began to deteriorate, eventually sticking on every click). i dont think microsoft has stock to rma them, seeing how microsoft discontiuned its sindwinder department---but dont quote me on that.

otherwise its a nice mouse while it lasts. just letting you know its prone to failure-- just like any other mouse i suppose.
