New speakers today - slight crackel

Hi guys, got some new speakers today logitech z313 i think there called.

great sound got a nice sub with them to i got that on the floor beside my feet and the 2 speakers either side of my monitor.

was playing mafia 2 and when driving theres a slight crackel noise and if i turn it up to a certain level when playing music it will SLIGHTLY crackel u wouldnt notice it only im listening for it and i cant help it. i turned down the realtek to around 50% and turned the volume on the speakers up seems to have helped now thats its at a nice level but i bought these so i could have nice loud basey sounds from my games ect.

is this a common problem with speakers to have a slight crackel or am i just turning it up to loud? its the first time iv had anything with proper bass.

thanks guys

Are you using onboard or a soundcard?

its just whatever came with the computer so yeah i guess so, it only happens on certain songs or on a high pitch time ect, somtimes if i leave on with no sound i get like a static or even maybe once or twice some sort of radio interfernce like i can hear a voice

i just played queens of the stoneage - go with the flow was pretty crackley there compared to other songs. im guessing my sound card isnt strong enough for the speakers or something?

it says on the box there 2.1 or something

heres the speakers i bought http://www.maplin.co.uk/logitech-z31...-system-505372

i dont know much about computer hardware so any info is great thanks

ill plug them into my ipod and test them

alright - iv tested the same song on my ipod and on my pc the one on the ipod came out pretty much perfect the one on the pc came out slightly fuzzy :S

whats this mean?

Sounds like it's definitely the onboard audio causing issues. I'm not sure how you're connecting them to your PC but there's a few last things you can try. Try plugging them directly into the jack on the motherboard, not the front panel jack (if that's what you're using), or vice versa. Second, try plugging the speakers into a different power outlet than your PC.

If neither of these work, you'll have to get a soundcard. For a budget solution I would get this:

i get alot of crackle n popping sounds from my logitech speakers when people turn light on/ff or when the fridge motor turns on, sometimes a slight bump to the sub makes it produce weird noises so i dont worry about it anymore

No I meant try plugging the power cord into a different outlet.

I've been using logitech speakers for a few nears now for my PCs, and while they provide great value for the price, there's a decent chance you'll get a lemon right out of the box. I would contact logitech and get an RMA going. One of the best things about Logitech is their warranty service; go for it.

It's got nothing to do with the speakers, it's a grounding issue the is often experienced when using onboard audio.
