I will be able to CF as early as mid-july, so I will jump on any great sale after that..but I want something thats runs extra cool and OCs really well

So my main ideas are

MSI twin frozr III - extra cool and it better OC great
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814127575

powercooler with dual fan - don't know anything about these
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814131393

ASUS EAH6950 DCII/2DI4S/2GD5 - better be cool, quiet and OC
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814121431

or some ref. 6950 that might shader unlock...but is hot and loud

Can't really drive a CF until BD is out, so lots of time to ponce

any thoughts

MSI TF II... there is debate as to if it can unlock or not, since it has the dual bios switch.

The Asus Direct CU II is awesome... if you want to use 3 slots.

I have a 6950 TF3 and I was able to unlock it, but got no performance boost from it. I am also not able to OC my card at all (40-50mhz is all I tried), but this morning my PSU power cords to my fans just melted so I probably couldn't OC it because of my weak PSU.

Will be getting a new PSU and retrying some OC on it. So far I am disappointed in it, but like I said could have been my psu holding me back. I was able to OC the hell out of my i7 and my old GTX465 with this PSU though.

it is actually a thought now that possibly the CPU-z needs to be updated before it will recognize the unlock. did you run any benches with your unlock? or just not see anything in CPU-z?
and your PSU could have been the reason behind no improvements after unlock as well.

success here with the TFIII/OC
results: furmark 1.9.0 benchmark preset 1080, Cat 11.5
6950: 1688
6950 +20%: 2142
6970: 2314
6970 +20%: 2314 (???)
bought the card a week ago from amazon.fr and used the "official" MSI unlock BIOS

GPU-Z 053 show the unlock, no need to reinstall drivers

I ran 3DMark11 and the new Vantage as well as Kombustor benchmarks and saw no gains on the unlock flash from MSI. I actually saw a drop on one of them from the unlock but I don't have the link since my comp is on the sideline for now.

Even after reflashing back to the original bios I could still not successfully OC this card at all. CPU-z didn't show any shader unlocks but I hear that is a common issue and I didn't base my statement on that
