Hows my setup?

Okay so i a core i7-950 cpu with a Noctua NH-D14 air cooling heatsink, using the Arctic Silver 5 compound and after about an hour of stress testing came up with the following results:

My question: Does anything seem wrong? Is the overclock looking good? Any Tips / Suggestions? Could i overclock it any higher or have i hit my limit?

ps. My case is the Antec 1200 (not sure if this info was necessary XD)

Thanks!

If i am honest i would say it is running abit hotter than i would be comfortable with @ 3.6ghz. I have seen 4-4.2 ghz with that cooler at those temps, Have you tried to re-seat your cooler? to see if you can squeeze a few more degrees off your temps?

I could try to re-seat it, however it is currently pushing air out towards the back two fans, so maybe i should face it up towards the 210mm top fan for better results?

If i do face it up, it will be also pulling heat from my below graphics card tho. not sure what to do.

That's a bit on the warm side for that overclock. I have a fairly similar set-up and I get those temps around 4.0GHz @ 1.28v.

Any suggestions on what i could possibly to do decrease the temps? (I keep my house cooled to about 22°c or 74°f)

Taking a look at it again it probably isn't too far off the mark for your voltage.

I'm not using the stock Noctua fans with the D14 and my TIM is slightly better than yours, plus my case is a small wind-tunnel. As a result mine would likely be a few degrees cooler than yours at any voltage.

Your temps will be perfectly fine for everyday use since you won't be maxing out your CPU all the time (if ever) like you do with Prime. i7s are built to withstand the heat, and anything under 75 is generally considered "safe."

You could take a look at the spread of your thermal paste to make sure you have enough or don't have too much covering the CPU. This would allow you to reseat the heatsink as well (although the D14 is fairly idiot proof in its design in that regard). You could also put some different fans on the heatsink, but that's not always a wallet-friendly decision to cool it down a couple of degrees.

Artic Silver 5 is no longer the best thermal paste. Switch to IC Diamond to see a few C drop from changing your thermal paste alone.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, ill re-seat my heatsink later today applying new paste and see where the results take me. I know i didnt add too much paste, but ill take a second look and see if i maybe shorted the amount. Thanks for all the tips and suggestions!
