SSD and Saved Files

Thread Starter
I am planning on getting a SSD drive and I want to know is there a way to have W7 automatically saved everything to my 1TB drive. I am going to install W7 on the SSD so I don't want my downloads being saved on that (64GB SSD) and only want my specific programs being saved on that. I know that downloading pictures, music, etc. takes space quick and only want that to take space from the other hardrive. Also sorry for not searching but I wouldn't even being to know how to search for this, it's all so confusing. Thank you.

I've moved my Documents, Downloads, Pictures, Music, Video's and Desktop to my HDD. Just locate the folders (C:\\Users\\Username), right click>Properties>Location and move them to a new folder on your HDD.

So I just change the location of everything in my user folder to my 1TB and I'm set? Are there any hidden files that I also need to change because I don't want anything to go to the SSD.

I used this guide awhile back... I think it's close to what you're asking for?

Any user folders with a Location tab can be moved, that covers most of the default locations windows puts stuff. You might want to also move your TEMP and TMP (all sorts of things end up there including downloads if you choose to open therm and not save) - for that make a new folder where you want (call it Temp) and note its path (E:\\Temp for example) Start>Right click computer>Advanced System Settings>Environment Variables in both boxes locate Temp and TMP, select each and Edit, In the Variable Value type its new location.
