New rig?

Thread Starter
I am going to sell my rig to a friend, and with that, and some of my own cash, im going to build a new computer. What do you think my sig rig would sell for? Not the monitors or sound card. Budget depends on how much i can sell my rig for. Right now, its probably around $1500.

I need general advice for parts for new rig. Should I get a sandy bridge now? or wait for the new socket 2011 boards. Also, I want a nvidia card now. I an fed up with ATI drivers. I was thinking of the 560 TI. I like mushkin memory, so I will go with some of those. I dont know about the case. The antec 1200's dust filter system annoyed me because i had to take out 4 thumb screws to remove the filter. I might go with another corsair PSU if there is nothing else better. Win 7 home x64 for OS. I would like to get a MSI motherboard. I cant chose because I haven't decided to wait on the CPU or not. Sata3 is a must tho. Also, what is the current best 1TB hard drive? I remember a while ago it was the Samsung F3. Is it still in the lead?

What would you recommend?

Thanks.

Take the price of what you paid now and just take away 20% and you should be able to get that much. Also yo7u will get more if you part out.

I'd say the fastest 1tb drive on Newegg is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227515.

Edit: Oh wait it's out of stock dangit.

On a more serious note, a lot of what you're mentioning isn't going to be a significant upgrade over what you have now. I would wait for either Bulldozer (if it turns out to be better than Sandy Bridge) or Ivy Bridge. If you want a significant boost over your 5850 (and really want Nvidia), you'll need either a 580, or SLI 560 Ti's.

I would get a 2nd 5850, I used to have 2 and they were beasts. Next thing would be an SSD. You already have a 930, just get it to 4ghz+ and hold off for socket 2011 cpus like you said. Also, dont waste your money on a 560, its a small upgrade from a 5850. You would at least want a 570 for 480.

I'm jealous, Wish I could sell mine and build another, just for fun.

Prob part it out, but all together, including the 1200 - $800 tops ? Just taking face value of new then taking away a fair amount for it being used.. Pretty much.

560 Ti would be great, Def not the best time to build but I would get a i7 2600k if it was me. (mainly cause I fold)

It's no problem for me, Either compressed air from the inside to blow it out the front, or vacuum. Not worth physically taking out the dust filter at all.

I'm seeing the one you currently have is zomg overkill for sigrig. If you want to go to power hungry Nvidia's, Keep it and throw a TX650 V2 in the sell rig. (even that's overkill)

I'm a noob but i do ALOT of window shopping and forum reading. If I was building a new Intel rig today:

CPU: Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge $315

Mobo: ASUS P8P67 WS REVOLUTION $260

PSU: Sparkle 750w Modular Gold Class $150 (Or the one you already have! I just like Gold Class efficiency)

GPU: SPARKLE GTX 570 $360 or the Twin Frozr edition.

If 560, the Twin Frozr edition or an EVGA

Alright. I'll wait for either Ivy or Bulldozer. It depends how much performance increase I would get. If I wait for the CPU, I might as well wait for the next line of GPUs, too. I'm not in that much of a hurry.

When I sell my rig to my friend, I'll replace the PSU and keep the one I took out. I have to hard drives in my rig right now, So I guess I could keep one of them. And I'll get an SSD of course.

What is the estimated release for Bulldozer and Ivy?

If you sell your rig to your friend what are you going to do for a computer while waiting for ivy bridge / bulldozer?

Just curious.
