buying new cpu, can someone recommend...

Thread Starter
i need a new CPU, but im not sure how to find out if the said CPU would be compatible with my MB.
So basically what im asking is if anyone can recommend a cheap £150 max CPU that will work with my MB? Or at least tell me a way of finding out how to check if it will work myself?
thanks again as always guys.

Link above shows all supported CPU looks like a 95W TDP is highest is supports. Any Phenom II X4 would be good the 945/955 looks like it should work according to that. Also a low end X6 will work too the 1035/1045/1055T is shown as highest I think with 95W TDP. Not sure the currency exchange from US to yours sorry.

Dont think he can use Newegg as he lives in UK by the monetary values he used. I think scan.com is around you iirc thats what its called.

EDIT: Try eBay they ship everywhere would be best value just be sure the seller is has good ratings.

Phenom II X4 975 is 125w, not 95w. Look for a lower wattage Phenom II X3 or X4. Or just keep your Athlon II, the L3 cache really isn't worth the upgrade price for the same core architecture, especially with all these new chips coming out. Maybe buy a newer AM3+ motherboard, use your Athlon II X4 and wait for the new chips to come out.
