Isnt' it THEIR job to make sure the final product is in best working condition rather to the attitude "eh, modders can fix all that, im simply too lazy to do my job", especially with all ideas they get from players?

This wouldn't be necessary to such an extent if the developer did his job properly.

I would rather wait a month or to and have a game polished as much as possible. What is a month or two compared to years of game development anyways...

This is sad that all games nowadays are dumb down so they fit the "biggest market". How are we going to improve/advance if all that is being released recently is at best mediocre?

Then maybe this genre is not really for You?

Pirating happens everywhere. Blaming pirates is always easier than admitting to being lazy.

PC's can just do so much more and once you do some modding are just fine pieces of art as well :

The reason you can play games fairly well on a 5-6 year old PC is because the tech used in games is advancing slowly. This isn't a bad thing for the market, it means more people can play games without having to spend a lot of money. And it does seem this is largely due to the multi-platform development targeting 5-6 year old consoles. Good for the market, good for developers, bad for gamers looking for cutting edge games.

The next-gen consoles will be a savior for PC gamers because that will be the new performance bar targeted by developers, meaning that more PC games will utilize newer tech.

Well at least they're being honest about it. Unlike Crytek.

Even BF3 has been optimised for consoles to a greater extent than the devs will admit.
The problem is that although PC gamers are a minority, they are a vocal minority. Which is why Dice\\EA at least try to keep them happy-ish.

I can see how games like Morrowind and other RPG's with "heavy focus on stats" do not appeal to general population. They require a larger level of preparation before getting to actual combat in order to succeed. Most people (the average person) prefer games with instant gratification. This can be seen in the FPS genre where we had games like Counter-Strike and now most FPS resemble the Call of Duty series.

Most popular games a quite a few years ago most appealed to a particular niche but now with more of the general public owning consoles, developers are appealing to that audience. With higher costs and the price of games being rather stagnant, it's only sensible to target the audience that will provide more money.

Personally, Morrowind was one of my favorite games. The depth of the world, the amount of options you had to mold your character (Which in the first playthrough, I sucked at utilizing). Oblivion did not compare because it measured considerably less in both of those things.

I have seen no commitment on part of the developers to go back to Morrowind. This statement in fact suggests they are actually going away from it. So I guess I'll just sit this game out.

I would just like to point out to the people saying Oblivion and the 3D Fallout games being buggy as hell on PC, that they were buggy as hell on consoles and PCs alike. It was more the engine's fault. Hence why they developed a completely new engine which looks better and I'm sure runs a hell of a lot better.

People on both sides need to stop making lame excuses as to why this game will be good or bad. If anyone has watched the game-play footage, the game looks beautiful, alive, and immersive. They simplified the stats not to dumb it down, but to get rid of the unnecessary stats effecting stats effecting stats situation. In other words.. less grind heavy and more of an experience. The fact that they developed a whole new engine for this game while utilizing some seriously impressive dynamic effects like having dragons as an ordinary creature rather than specific boss battles as well as keeping the aspect of having hundreds of hours of game-play says that this game is far from being dumbed down. They simply changed the game's focus to enhance the experience and so it is more enjoyable for everyone instead of alienating most people for the "grind-kings."

If you can't accept that.. well, a big meh for you! I will be enjoying this game at its launch on PC. It won't bother me that I'm sharing the experience with all the console gamers. They are games.. they are meant to be enjoyed.

It's true pirating happens everywhere. But only a fool would claim that pirating isn't much much more prevalent on the PC platform.

Additionally, I never said developers aren't lazy. I could link back to the topic about graphics from the other day where I typed there is a reason I don't play most games now. In general games suck now, not just console ports.

It wasn't the engine that was the problem. It was the piss poor coding, especially on FO3. FO3 to this day has memory leaks galore and other issues that were never patched after the market release.

The buginess of FO3 was the fault of the developer, not the engine in and of itself. Replacing the engine won't do squat I predict. Fallout; New Vegas uses the Gamebryo engine too and it has far less issues...because the dev actually put in the effort.

Not a launch day purchase for me, then. I'll wait until it's $30 or less. Dumbed down graphics are dumbed down graphics. We have another Crytek here, it seems, they'll be promising DX 11 'features' in future patches.... still don't see that patch from Crytek and I expect the same from Bethesda.

Oh well, my GF and I were really anticipating this game but we are not anymore. Bargain bin game now. Loss of ~ $60+ dollars in this household for Bethesda.

It frees up funds for BF3 for me! I was gonna have to choose one or the other to start with but not anymore!
