You can't compare a small developer like CDProject to Bethesda. Those guys have a much, much smaller budget to work with and still churned out a fantastic game. Plus, they actually listen to the PC community and have made changes to the game based on that feedback. Right off the bat! Within a couple weeks of launch!

You wanna know what makes BFBC2 popular on the PC? Great gameplay and DX 11! Yes that's right, it's actually one of the few games that utilize some of the power of DX 11 GPUs. BF3 will have DX 11 capabilities which makes it a must have on day 1.

Edit: you know it's sad when a game like LoTRO has DX 11 support (and looks fantastic with it enabled) but yet, AAA developers like Bethesda can't be bothered to include it (full support) on a game coming out just before 2012.
Actually no it was "dumbed down"
-In the witcher 1 potions were more of shorterm boost with longer lasting negatives due to toxicity taking a while to go away, now toxity goes away as soon as the potion effect is done. Also no more group, strong or fast stances; some enemies would just laugh at you before they murdered you if you were not using the right stance, then there were investing your points in strength, dex, int etc depending on how your character fought. There were some other intricacies I dont care to remember because the TW2 is a much better game.

It seems when the TW2 removes features such as investing points into strength, int, etc people dont care "because it was developed for pc" but if skyrim does it everyone goes up in arms because they said they were developing it for consoles.

Also my point about the Witcher 2 not having dx11 wasn't to discredit the game, but to show that beautiful and good looking games can be created without your precious dx11.

Also DX11 didnt make BC2 and it wont make BF3, I bought the game because I love the gameplay which only Battlefield can deliver, there is no other game like that to me and I have been with the series since 1942 also I got it on PC because of 32 players instead of 24, servers, controls, better community and because my friends play it on pc. I wonder how many of BC2's PC player base has dx11 cards, I wonder how many of Bf3 player base will have dx 11 cards.

So is all these 'dumbed down' points why people die a lot in the game? It seems pretty hard for a 'dumbed down' game.

I didn't comment on Bethesda removing features but others have.

No DX 11 didn't make BC2 but it sure helps! We buy high end graphics for a reason don't we? Considering DX 11 GPUs have now been out for almost 2 years, most people who game on the PC have DX 11 GPUs. More than half the gamers I know IRL have DX 11 GPUs.

You're missing the point with DX 11. Whether people have it or not is irrelevant, there will be upgrades made by PC gamers eventually and the GPUs are backwards compatible. Who's gonna upgrade to DX 11 video cards if there are no DX 11 games? The whole industry relies on each other and should be making efforts not just coasting along. Software is way behind hardware now and it's gonna start hurting the hardware manufacturers eventually, which will stifle the industry as a whole if it continues.

No stats? No Sale! Sorry customization is a HUGELY MASSIVE selling point for me, lack of stats makes this an adventure game and I don't like accessible adventure games because they are mind numbingly boring and easy.

ACTUALLY. in the tw1 you can beat the entire game with nothing but group stance. Just max group stance, and aard = game over. even on hard. The fact that i had max vigor regen, a mabari forest potion meant that i beat the end of the game just by right clicking aard the entire fight, niether the grand master or the king of the wild hunt even got to attack because i simply right clicked aard every 2 seconds. they were permanently pushed back. I did the same thing to azar javed also.

The combat was improved 100% compared to the original, enemies are quite capable of killing you, potions in the original providing bonuses, and toxicity, in the 2nd they provide bonuses, and negatives, and toxicity. Then lets look at magic, well instead of being super powerful aard and igni megaburning or stunning, it requires you do mix and match magic with regular attacks. Enemies are smart and block much better and counter attack well, fast and slow attacks are best used against certian enemies, you cant simple group style your way through the entire game.

I must admit, a game without customization seems pretty... boring.

I'm sorry but what do you want us to do? Seriously?
PC gamers that actually care about a port or multi-platform game which concentrates on the console players, are the minority.

When a group of complaining customers make up about 1% of the total profits, the developers really don't give a crap, plain and simple.

So to answer your question about what you should do: You should either, 1.) Get over it, and play any game you can still enjoy, or 2.) Quit purchasing PC games if you don't enjoy them.

I don't expect you to be happy about it, none of us enjoy seeing PC games not be bleeding-edge anymore. But you really don't have much of a choice.

That's great, but get this, DX11 Capable doesn't equal good performance. Also, and this is the most important part, multi-platform games are developed for significantly less money when all three platforms support the same shader models, and they do, they all support Shader Model 3.0 (DX9 on PC). This is why DX9 is still the choice of developers. If they want to support DX11 they still have to do full support for DX9, so supporting DX11 is a waste of money that only a small percentage of customers will be able to use and actually notice a difference from DX9.

30% of Windows OSes are DX11 capable, a subset of computers running that OS even have a DX11 card, a subset of those computers have a DX11 card that can run games at a decent framerate, and a very small subset of all of those cases have consumers that would even notice or care about the difference between DX9 and DX11.

So here's what the development studio is faced with:
Q: "Hey, should we spend an extra $300,000 on supporting DX11 and actually make the game run it differently than DX9? 1% of our customers will actually care. And it won't actually improve profits in a noticeable way."
A: "Uhhhhh, no thanks"
