Oh well, your loss, it will be a great game.Hopfully next go round they don't even waste time working on a PC version, because apparently all PC gamers care about is if it says DX23834 and if it has tesselamations. LOL
This

The developers already confirmed mod support. Notice how nobody here is saying the game looks ugly because it looks beautiful but they are mad cause their dx11 cards will go to waste. When Nvidia and AMD start making games then you can start complaining that dx20 or whatever is not in the newest games. These companies dont give a damn about what awesome gpu they have they are going to make sure it runs as well as possible for the most people as possible. How come Valve or Blizzard doesn't get the same hate as these "console turncoats"? Their games have been looking mediocre to average for years now yet everyone still praises them.

That's great, but get this, DX11 Capable doesn't equal good performance. Also, and this is the most important part, multi-platform games are developed for significantly less money when all three platforms support the same shader models, and they do, they all support Shader Model 3.0 (DX9 on PC). This is why DX9 is still the choice of developers. If they want to support DX11 they still have to do full support for DX9, so supporting DX11 is a waste of money that only a small percentage of customers will be able to use and actually notice a difference from DX9.

30% of Windows OSes are DX11 capable, a subset of computers running that OS even have a DX11 card, a subset of those computers have a DX11 card that can run games at a decent framerate, and a very small subset of all of those cases have consumers that would even notice or care about the difference between DX9 and DX11.

So here's what the development studio is faced with:
Q: "Hey, should we spend an extra $300,000 on supporting DX11 and actually make the game run it differently than DX9? 1% of our customers will actually care. And it won't actually improve profits in a noticeable way."
A: "Uhhhhh, no thanks"

That made me laugh so hard.

The staggering amount of people blatantly ignoring information in this thread is disappointing to say the least. Please, click the link in lordikon's sig and read.

Sure is Tea Party in here.

Who cares how it looks? They are taking away stats, skills and crapping up the menu system for use on the console.

Did you see the gameplay video? He says "Right trigger for right hand, left trigger for left hand". That is a pretty unique control mechanic and obviously designed for consoles. It will be hard to port to PC and certainly won't feel as natural.

They dumbed down the skills and stats, basically making everything simpler for consoles.

I loved the Elder Scrolls but this looks like a disappointing port. They started the trend with Oblivion and its just continuing. They followed the money with no care for the PC gamers that MADE their company.
You keep bringing the "Right trigger, left trigger" thing up. What do you expect them to do if it was specifically designed for PC or designed with PC as the lead platform? Do you expect them to make the key-bindings random? Or would you expect them to make it so left click = left hand, right click = right hand?

I made that point to you before, but you simply ignored it. I'm not gonna bother repeating myself again.

They're taking away some stats and that's simply for accessibility for everyone, not just console players. Morrowind was the same on PC and console aside from the modding and all the skills were present. They're not simplifying it for console players.

Simple Develop it with PC level graphics, competent controls and a story that wasn't thrown together in a martini stained rush to finalize it. Then you take THAT game and you work out the DX9 issues and VIOLA! PRESTO CHANGO! You have a solid PC game.
Have you not been reading any of my posts? What don't you get about "Porting is expensive"?

Developing it for PC (which is the minority of your customer base), and then spending the time to convert to the other two platforms (which is where the big money is at), doesn't make any sense.

I'm a game developer, I'm flat-out telling you that the process you're suggesting is more expensive, AND takes more time, AND creates more bugs, AND most customers will never notice the difference or care. What the customers would notice is the delay it would cause.

Developers are not going out of their way for a very small percentage of their customers, period. I'm not sure why so many people seem to think that PC gamers are entitled to have the PC version of the game have more time spent on it than the consoles.

Developers are going to make games that make them the most profit, they're running a business. Spending a lot of extra money to benefit a small percentage of people with elite hardware isn't part of a good business plan.

is that why you're still on DX10 card? haha jk.
i don't think they're gimmicks though, i think they're necessary. we've have too much shaders effects these days. we need more geometry. those steering wheels or tires looking like polygons is just ridiculous. they're suppose to be round.

It's a relentless process trying to convince them, isn't it? I'm going to get brain damage from all the face-desking this thread has brought me. I would've given up by now, but I'm finding it hard not to come back.

It's funny but kind of pathetic at the same time. Double standards and ignorance seems to make up the news section. It would be nice to discuss these articles without the high amount of people crying about stuff that doesn't even make sense.
