6970 and 6950 Crossfire Together?

Thread Starter
So like the title states, is it okay to crossfire a 6970 and 6950 together? I have an XFX 6970 but I bought a MSI TWIN FROZR II and I wanted to put it together in one rig but if I disable Crossfire can I independently clock them?

Yes, you can.

Both of the cards will run at the same clocks.

You cannot independantly clock them.

You can run them in crossfire, the 6970 will run at the same speeds as the 6950 though.

Yep, but they don't "have" to run at the same clocks.

This is what I am wondering. If I have both cards in one rig and not enable crossfire, can I independently clock them.

And what on earth do you wish to accomplish by doing this?

It used to force same clocks but now it doesn't. But why oh why? Because sometimes both cards won't run at the same clocks, no big deal cuz the cards will load balance.

I am running an app that independently loads the GPU so I have to run an app for each card. This means that if I can get my second card, the 6950, faster then the app will process faster.

You should be able to clock them independently, yes.
