I forgot to mention that the Sensor which auto-powers off the monitor during all black scenes turns the monitor off and can be annoying especially during a movie etc. I have not found a way to turn it off yet.

the ambient sensor inside the monitor for autoset brightess is good or is only a ridicolous feature ?

i don't use the autobrightness or autocontrast feature since it seems to be more of a gimmick to me. The monitor brightness can be set pretty high already and there are 3 different levels of Gamma to help out.

I have mine set as SRGB, brightness 35, sharpness 5. The LG has very limited image configuration since in SRGB preset, the color, gamma, and contrast cannot be adjusted.

I'm also returning the monitors back to Newegg for a refund also. I would probably still keep them but that auto-power off sucks big time during all black scenes in a game/movie in my opinion

I have only just now found out what your talking about with the auto-off on black screens. When I took those pictures using a pixel test that blacked out the monitors I has to have my pointer on them for the display to be on. Never noticed this in the months I've had them.

Most of my games leave my second screen on with my chat programs and things so I never noticed. However, some of my full screen games black that screen out, which is awesome that this monitor turns off when black so I don't see any back light leakage since it's off when not in use. It can be a good feature at times. Never found a need for the monitor to be on when its pitch black except to test leakage.

Hello,

I'm not sure if I should revive a thread that is a few weeks old but I just read your posts guys and they made me a bit worried. I was thinking about LG E2370V monitor but you scared me a bit with this "auto-power off feature".

I read specification, project page and manual but couldn't find anything about it. Of course there is an "Auto-Bright" feature but as far as I understood it seems to be a different story.

I would like to understand what it is and how it manifests itself as it could be a deal breaker for me if the monitor tended to turn off without asking.

Does it only affect multiple monitors configurations?
Does it only happen with secondary monitor?
Does the monitor turn off only when all the screen is black or there is no focus... or maybe both?
Can the monitor turn off when you are watching movies?

1. Not sure as mine is a dual monitor.
2. Happens with either display.
3. Only turns off when it's been black for 5+ seconds or so and doesn't always seem to turn off. Depends on what is running fullscreen on the other display.
4. Haven't had that problem. Even when a movie ends and the screen goes black for a bit before the credits it hasn't seemed to turn off on me.

I haven't been bothered by the feature. If anything it's something I didn't notice until reading this thread and I kinda like how the screen shuts off as if it is display "true black" since it's off. Now if I was using that display and it flipped off I would be super pissed. Never had that happen though.

Thank you Strobe. Good to know that you found this feature actually quite good. And yes, I agree the the only case which would be annoying was if the monitor turned of itself while beeing really used.
