[Wired] China, Russia Could Make U.S. Stealth Tech Obsolete - Page 6

The B-2 and F-35 both contain RAM coatings within the bomb-bay doors. And both are made to eject payload in less than a second if necessary.

Shoot-down of the F-117 was more about using the same route, at the same time of day, every day. Which is absolutely ridiculous and completely against protocol. People got lazy.

aren't most stealth fighters large too?

I know I can see planes in the sky a lot

EDIT: wouldn't you'd hear them too

Try spotting something in high altitude... not the altitude commercial aircraft fly at. lol...

Also, at least with the SR-71 if you did hear it go overhead if you looked up immediately you would already be long gone... that thing is way fast. Look it up smile.gif

Lol,who cares, warfare has moved on too much, stealth fighters are almost pointless in the future, internet and invisible weapons are the next phase.Nanotechnology is the new toy of the military, anything is possible, and you would'nt even know it was there.

The only reason the F-117 was shot down was because the SA-3 operator used flash point radar activation to try and identify the F-117's position. The missile didn't even lock on to the F-117, several SA-3's were fired around the general position they thought the F-117 was, and hoped that the missile would lock on to the minimal radar signature, or detonate by proximity, and the missile detonated by proximity not by radar lock. They used short radar pulses with unusually long wavelengths, and only spotted it when the radar signature increased due to the bomb bay doors opening.

US just need to build a death star.

This article was out last year too if you surfed on f-16.net

Its not true - that US stealth is compromised.

What is true, the new J20 from China and the new Pak FA fighter from Russia both invest heavily into steath because they also know its critical and mandatory in the new era. can you imagine how much a non steath aircraft sticks out on one of these new super sharp radars?

Also, steath isn't jsut 'seeing' the enimy. Rafale, Eurofighter, and US F16's and F18's all tell stories that they can get an F22 in their sights but the radar wont lock on. At that point you need visual camera or IR.. or a combination like the Russians use, OR the full EO DAS system used by the F35. Once again, the US is better at detecting steath than anyone else. Not to mention that LM and company have stated for a long time that its much easier to build a steath detecting radar then a steath plane.
