Before i waste 30$....

I have this case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ll%20destroyer with a Xigmatek s1283 mounted vertically (not by choice) a little bit over my 6870.

Because of the way the heatsink is positioned, and because of the way the 6870 messed up my airflow i want to add another front intake fan to my case.
II experimented by moving the hard drive cage to right under the dvd drive, and this lowered my cpus load temps from 51c to 47c and idle from 35 to 29, however i had to get uncomfortably violent with my hard drives to get them to not press themselves up against the video card

the plan is to put this new cage (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817996019) where the old one was, and move the hard drives into it, and replace both of these fans with 75cfm ones

does anybody see any reason not to do this? I'd be satisfied with just some sort of mounting bracket for a front intake fan, but i cant find one anywhere =\\

So you are trying to remove the stock cage, and move your hard drives to your 5.25 bays to increase airflow?

so right now its doing that, which is better than it was, but i want to move those hard drives back to the bottom so they wont be pushing against my video card

You should be fine, as long as you have 5.25 inches of clearance. Besides, hard drives do not create too much heat. You can also modify it a little bit more to have it fit perfectly.

its not so much the hard drives heat im worried about really, its just that my case has terrible airflow at the moment, im wanting to know if putting in an extra hard drive cage with a front mounted fan would actually help airflow.... being able to move the hard drives would just be nice lol

if i were you I'll mod the cpu cooler to make the orientation vertical(dunno if you can do this with the bracket of your cooler. I was able to do this with the cooler on my htpc.you'll need to drill it tho) then add a intake fan at the top of the case. that would greatly improve the airflow imo. a lot of work but you wont spend so much

Thats what i really want to do, but i cant find the brackets i would need for that anywhere =\\

I do have 2 120mm exhaust fans at the top of my case though, so that helps a little

you have to mod it. I drilled the bracket on mine and used bigger screws with the brackets or if it's not possible make a custom bracket for it by using aluminum. a friend of mine did it I think he used 1/8" thick aluminum but im just guessing
