New 2500k, doesnt work :( - Page 5

umm I know this is stupid but minimal stuff on the computer. Only the SSD or only the 1tb drive. Not both at the same time. Try different ports.

Also like everyone said, memtest86+

It's unlikely either 1366 CPU or your new 1155 CPUs were faulty. As a rule, CPUs are one of the most durable parts in a PC. They are very rarely DOA and very rarely "go bad."

I'm betting memory, maybe bent pins, or a bad HDD/SSD. Did you update your SSD firmware?

doesn't sound like a CPU problem at all, your talking about nvidia drivers, this is purely a video card problem, scrap your card and get something that doesn't mess up

Now that I finally got the OS installed I get the Nvidia drivers and restart and then hangs.
makes me think he forgot to install the chip set drivers first, before anything else.

THis is a long shot but,

Mine POSTS and then i get a black screen whenever my external sound card is turned on. I have to turn it off in order for my PC to boot. Try removing all the USB cables and your DVD drive.

OK everyone thanks for the continued advice, I had to get some shut eye as I was getting very tired and impatient and we all know thats when mistakes are made.

This is very true, its plastered all over the mobo that its "window 7 ready" so I had assumed that it would find the drivers online (since wireless card is installed)

while it was searching for the drivers while I was installing the nV drivers they had all failed to install, which made those drivers next on my priority list.

If I remember you've gotta stick the RAM in the corresponding colored slots for dual channel to work. Are you detecting all 8GB?
Yes this was one of the first things I had checked, as its not uncommon to think everything is secured it

Is this the kind of problem you have? :

http://www.overclockers.com/forums/s...d.php?t=673708
The site doesnt seem to load up for me so I cant read whats going on there, also im willing to bet that this is actually the issue. I know that the intel ports work better for the 4k r/w's so I had put the ssd on the sata3 and the Black drive on sata6, ill grab a different sata cable ( as for some reason all the included were right angle ports )

Though this would be a ton o fun, no lol though I might as well have with my issues.

Ok everyone Im going to try a couple more things, first will be the sata arrangements, though the 1tb black is plugged into the sata6 the marvell controller doesnt see it since its still IDE mode, I dont understand why it would make the pc hang but at this point Im just gonna try it lol

Thanks again everyone for all the advice given!! It is very appreciated!

EDIT: I got into the GUI with another install of windows, Im currently only using one stick of memory at the moment, although Im not sure its the culprit, looking around at the Asus drivers it looks like the BIOS has had an issue they had to address where it hangs if the HDD isnt set up in a specific manner.

Everything is working now!

I was able to get into the desktop by reinstalling four more times, but after I did I was able to read about how this mobo needed a BIOS update, the issue it had was specific to mine, where if the hdd wasnt formatted to a specific allocation then it would simply hang after post

Thanks everyone for all the help and suggestion, +reps
