When in doubt you could always open the block to see which side the jet plate is on. If there isn't one, then it won't matter which port you use as an inlet or outlet.

I was under the impression that the recent hate towards EK is directed to the issues with the nickle plated blocks only. As far as the rest of the blocks they are fine correct?

Generally speaking, yes. Seeing how they dealt with the situation, essentially blaming customers for the problems, people take note of that and move to a different vendor.
