1333MHz 7-7-7-21 or 1600MHz 9-9-9-24?

Hi,

I'm wondering what would be best for gaming? 4x4GB 1333MHz 7-7-7-21 or 4x4GB 1600MHz 9-9-9-24. I don't really understand too much about it.

Also, what's the deal with voltages? Am I right to assume that the lower the voltage the better? I.E: 1.5v is better than 1.6v?

1333 will be great. you could go 1600 at CAS 8, but at that point we're really splitting hairs.

lower voltage is "better" in the sense that you have more room to overclock with.

go with what is cheaper. if you plan to OC, go for low voltage.

I see, thanks. I don't intend to overclock the RAM, so I guess that isn't so important.

This is for the SB chip? If it is then 1333 c7 should be fine. 1.5V is better.

Maybe Im just talking out of my arse, but I believe the common wisdom is that Intel chips generally do better with memory that has a higher frequency, rather than tighter timings.

Personally I would go with the DDR3-1600

In real world performance sandybridge doesn't really benefit from high speeds/tight timings. You will only see the difference in benchamrking ie. super pi. I would read this to get a better understanding of RAM on sb rigs: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/memory/2011/01/11/the-best-memory-for-sandy-bridge/1

In most occasions my cl8 1866mhz performs the same as the 2133mhz cl8, but like i said the difference would be more noticible in benchmarks. I would recommend the 1600mhz at 1.5v for everday usage.

Also lower voltage on anything is great biggrin.gif

EDIT: between the two get which ever is cheaper, but I would opt for the 1600mhz even if it cost a little more.
