Force GPU to run at 100%?

Thread Starter
Hi,

I've been experiencing problems with low FPS in games (MW2, for example). However, I notice, when I am frame lagging, the GPU is usage is at 40% or so (I don't know the exact number). The settings aren't completely max, if that helps.

I have a SAPPHIRE RADEON HD 5670 512MB GDDR5. I went on CCC and tried to put more strain on the card (increasing AA values, etc), but it didn't fix the GPU usage problem. (This is AMD Engine Control Center 11.5)

Is there a way to force the GPU to run at 100% at any time, no matter what settings?

Thanks

It might be a bottleneck, dual core @ 2.6ghz.

To see, open task manager, start up your game, play for a little bit, then alt tab out and see what your cpu usage is at. If it's 100% then that's your problem.

i doubt that
I had a 5570 on a C2D E7400....which incidentally is a stripped down 5670 that ran fine when I played that PoS called MW2

but then again......that was a C2D @ 2.8ghz....

I guess you could try disabling powerplay in the CCC?

Its not a bottleneck with a 5670.

Try a driver uninstall/sweep/reinstall.

If that dosn't solve the problem i would start checking hardware.

PCIE lanes running at right speed, CPU at correct speed/ram ect.

that's called a cpu bottleneck. you need more juice to get the usage up. either that or a driver issue
post #6 of 8
that's a classic bottleneck symptom you can try different drivers but don't hold your breath.

Whenever anyone on this website has a performance issue with a GPU, everyone just runs in and shouts bottleneck and its rather annoying.

Its a low powered GPU guys, its not being bottlenecked down to 40% usage. No way in hell.

if you want to try overclocking your dual core to 3ghz if you can and see if that helps.
