That's a bunch of BS, why release the emails at all then? He may not be in it for truly malicious intentions, breaking the law to get attention is sad and should not be condoned.

It's not surprising, at least it shouldn't be. We have lost a lot of focus on security and pushed too much on piracy, now we have a lack of security. Oh darn, what ever shall we do.
Exactly right, we're hearing about Sony's security failures because the media wants us to. This happens every day to numerous companies around the world. I'm by no means saying it's acceptable on Sony's end, but people need to look at the big picture.

And have thousands upon thousands of people lose their jobs because some attention deprived kid decided it would be cool to hack Sony?

Ok let's apply this grey hat logic.

Man kills 6 people in a room, guilty as charged gets life.

Man kills 5 in a room lets one live, what a hero woohoo ?

Your reasoning is faulty you cant applaud somebody for breaking the law then say it's ok because he meets x criteria.

That makes no sense what so ever. he is releasing information to prove that there are holes in the security. If he didn't release anything, Sony could easily say that there was no real problem.

By releasing the information, it forces Sony to take action. No releasing all the info means he wants to make the least victims possible but make enough so that Sony has to take action.

That's why he's Grey hat (not white or black). His actions have some bad and some good to them. Ultimately he does something bad to get a an improvement in the end.

I'm applying his logic not saying it equates to it.

I'm putting it into perspective how wrong his reasoning is.

I never once compared hacking to murder I applied his logic to a different situation.

No, you applied what you wanted into a context that makes you feel and look better.

Garbage. There's no need to release any information at all. How many times have they been hacked? They know by now that their security has holes.

This is all a simple ploy by someone trying to get attention after this media storm started. If you honestly think this is improving anything, you are sorely misguided.
