HT adds no more then 10% performance in 3ds max, should also keep in mind that compared to a phenom core a bulldozer core should have the exact same throughput capability (since phenoms still got 128bit fpus) and since there will be 33% more cores i expect 33% more performance clock to clock over the x6

This?

Looks closer to 15% than no more than 10%.

Whats 33% more of 14.5?

Also since Bulldozer uses a whole new design, can we still use Phenom II clocks as a baseline? Does that still work?

When sandy came out, there has only been first gen/second gen core i's released since 775 Q6xxx/Q9xxx from Intel and Phenom II and Athlon II from AMD since then. AMD has really been in a stall pattern for the last few years. Hopefully (even if its not that good) Bulldozer provides a decent baseline for them to drive into the future with.

Intel hasn't released SBe yet, which will be the replacement for your current i7-920 system... Current SB chips were meant to replace dated quads as well as the short lived 1156 socket.
