Yeah, the 2500k is the better deal since games won't make use of the hyper-threading. The only reason I would get the 2600k is if it's on sale. I picked mine up for $275.

I got the local Fry's to price-match Micro Center (they're about 100 miles away) and I got my 2500k for $179. Better than paying $100 (Micro Center) more for the 2600K. My mb arrives today, can't wait to see what SB can do
