I would go with a 6950 with an aftermarket cooler. I've had both cards HD 6950 and GTX 570. I could not tell the difference between both cards in games. I play TF2 (mostly CPU limited), Counterstrike, and BFBC2. I'd say go with the HD 6950 (even 1 gb would be adequate at your resolution) and get yourself upgraded to a better CPU so you aren't bottlenecked.

Right now he can get a new 570 for $309 AR

I wasnt selective benching I was trying to find a reputable bench with an OC card since we were discussing OCing. If you look at the WHOLE review its like that across the board from 5-10 fps difference avg and considering metro 2033 is one of the most demanding games out there yes it makes a good comparison.

I also wasnt taking rebates into account since usually there a pain if we are you can get a 6950 2gb for $230 AR almost $80 cheaper

Agree with above.

GTX 570 is an awesome card - no doubt about it. But I chose the 6950 just for the price/performance factor with the latest gen cards. The only other card that makes sense from a price/performance factor will be a GTX 560 ti if you got brand preference.
Also, from what I read, you will have to buy a solid non-reference GTX 570 to be able to OC. Otherwise, it may burn, pop and sizzle. So you cannot just go buy the cheapest GTX 570 you see if you want to push it. Just my thoughts - I am welcome to proving me incorrect.

THIS! SO MUCH THIS! Get a C2Q, a 45nm one if you can. 6950 does around 570 levels for less money.
I smell a fan boi.

Upgrading to a GTX 570 is definitely worth it! I went from a GTX 260 Core 216 to my GTX 570 and noticed a huge fps increase in all my games. Never gave a serious look to AMD, because I need 3D Vision.

Thanks for all the inputs.

Actually, I'm not only upgrading the graphics card alone. I'm about to upgrade my old whole rig.

I'm getting an i7 2600k, motherboard still not decided, an 8gb 1600mhz ram, and 850w psu.

I'm really looking for a help in building my rig, I can't buy right now bcoz' I'm not sure what to get and what is the best value for my money.

i got the asus gtx570dcII its a huge card 11.5 inches long fits fine in 902 case made a custom brace for the added weight. it rocks compared to my 460 reference card where my 460 dropped frame rates in games my 570 just keeps on going it runs 31.c idle and 53.c with crysis 2 maxed out 67 fps. I dont see a lot of people with this card it would be my first choice fan is never above 50% cant ever hear it. It got 54.7 average fps with heaven 2.0 at stock settings 1080p with no overclock[and its under 400$ thats the bonus]
